The New Year Post

(a.k.a. the It’s-too-late-for-a-Christmas-post-so-this-will-have-to-do post)

Went thru my 2010 planner earlier and found myself reminiscing/chuckling to myself/scratching my head at all the stuff that went on the past year that I managed to write down on my trusty Moleskine. Funny how those hasty scribbles—even silly side comments and boring to-do entries—now represent so much more. Made me realize how many so-so/mundane/tough/wonderful experiences I had in 2010, all of which I’m thankful for!

Here, some random “excerpts.” My actual notes on the planner enclosed in quotation marks!

The Year 2010 According to My Little Black Book

Jan. 4. “Back to reality!” I wrote. On my to-do list: “Get pay slip.”

Jan. 9. “Ne-yo in Manila. Round table interview, 10am.” Was late. He didn’t mind.

Jan. 18. “The Big Day. Daddy’s Pericardiectomy at 7am.” I remember wanting to kiss the feet of The Medical City’s Dr. Manapat after the surgery. Never got to.

Jan. 25. “DADDY’S HOME!”

Feb. 4. Wrote “Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. – Oscar Wilde.” Hmmm… Methinks I did something evil on this day but I just can’t remember.

Feb. 6. “Nikki’s Hen Party!” Too bad I missed the stripper because I had to leave early for Kris Allen’s concert. Looking back, I wish I chose the stripper instead.

Feb. 14. “SIXTH.” Plus a happy face. Plus two swirly hearts. You get the picture.

Feb. 18. “Watched Princess and the Frog last night. MAJOR SNOOZE!”

Feb. 27. “Nikki’s wedding. 3pm. Tagaytay Highlands.” Swankiest. Wedding. Ever.

March 7. “Buy bikini/maillot.” Soon realized a maillot’s not for me. Made me look funny.

March 8-10. “BORACAY!”

March 19. “Jason Castro at 12nn.” Got to shake his hand, when I wasn’t supposed to. Heehee.

March 30. “DON’T FORGET FOOD SA REF!” Wut?

April 4. “Happy Easter! P.S. Bought shoes.”

April 16. “7ish. Dinner with the Bebangs!” Why do I have this feeling that this didn’t push through?

April 22. “Rose’s Bday!” Originally planned to surprise Rose at her house but she beat us with her own surprise: Turns out she was already in Singapore! Gah.

May 6. “Buy wheat bread.” Yehes, diet mode.

May 8. Posted a sticker that says, “Bonding with dad” on the page, with the comment, “Ahm, sorta.”

May 10. “Election Day. Fail! My name’s not on the list.”

May 19. “New rule: No more ‘I miss you’s’ unless there is a great chance he misses you, too.” Whoops, LQ alert.

May 26. “Korea, here I come!” “Outfit No. 4: Coat, gray dress, black leggings, flats.”

June 1. “Hun’s Birthday!” Drats, I didn’t write what we did that day. Hmmm.

June 12-13. “Calatagan-Tagaytay Getaway!” With Dong, Lhen, Aia, Donnataps, Grasha, Enzo, Bong. I remember that trip’s quotable quote: “J&*@#(& baboy!”

June 20. Father’s Day. “Dinner at Cyma, Shang = FAT”

June 24. Came up with this pauso: “Creative Exercise: Each day must have a title.” This day’s title? “The Third Time My Planned Mani-Pedi Got Cancelled.” Wow, lalim.

June 27. “I shop too much.”

July 1. “F21 + Jacob’s Abs = Ecstasy.”

July 13. “Oh My Kidney.” Aak, what did I eat on this day?

July 31. “Eastwood/Dinner with Kappa/Meg’s Homecoming Get-Together” “Expenses: P380 (Dinner) + P150 (Starbucks) + P95 (Cream Puffs) +  P20 (Taxi share)” Yes, nakalista.

Aug. 11. “SICK LEAVE: Little Miss Sniffles!”

Aug. 23. “Yoga mat?” Five months later, I still haven’t bought my own. Ack.

Aug. 29. “P300: Lescaraibes food.” Had to think about this for a while before realizing Lescaraibes was a resort in Laiya.

Sept. 7. “Watch Emmys.” On another line, “Submit Emmys.”

Sept. 9. “Cosmo Bachelor Bash!” a.k.a. Sam Milby/Carlo Aquino day.

Sept. 22. “Glee premiere, 7pm.”

Sept. 25. “Relaaax.”

Oct. 3. “Rose is HERE!!!” Spent the night at the ancient Millenium Plaza in Makati. Scurrrry.

Oct. 14. “Age is not important unless you’re cheese!” Turned the big 2-5.

Oct. 15. “Dampa Dinner, 8pm.” Shrimp/baked tahong overload, as usual.

Oct. 21. “Lay Bare! Wax after work!” TMI?

Nov. 19. “Seibu Night”

Nov. 27. “Start Christmas shopping.” Didn’t.

Dec. 3. “Buy Andy’s pellets.”

Dec. 11. “Finish Christmas shopping.” Didn’t.

Dec. 16. “Summit Christmas Party.” Highlight of the night was when John Lloyd dropped by. Said to him, “ I love you.” For realz. His response? Isang napakatamis na… ngiti. I almost peed in my Cheerio skirt!!!

Dec. 21. “Darren Criss interview.”

Dec. 25. BLANK. Someone’s too busy fattening up!

Dec. 28. “Senyores Superheroes & Villains Party.” One word: Basag.

And then…

Nothing follows! I guess I was too busy recovering from my hangover to write any more.

Clearly, Mr. Moleskine and I had a lot of good times together. Now it’s time for him to rest… and for me to get a new pocket companion! Aak!
